What Is In Your Hand?

When we are in love with our Jesus, we would love to do things for His Kingdom. As we grow mature in Christ, I believe God will somehow speak to you and entrust you with His work.

Many times He will not mention the task that you have to do specifically or directly. There are ways of how He will speak to us:

1. He will put passion in you over something suddenly. You might not enjoy or like this particular thing in early year but suddenly you become so passionate about it.

2. You will suddenly feel the burden on something, not necessarily the thing you love or enjoy to do. It just cannot leave your mind. You will keep thinking about it over and over and will have a burden on it.

For my case, many times He clearly said what He wants me to do but didn’t tell me how to do it specifically. I have to figure it out myself on how I should do it. So I have to pray for quite sometimes to get clear direction.

Below are some guidances for you if you experience that same thing like me from God:

“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
John 6: 9-11 (NIV)

What's in your hand?

The bible verse above mentioned that the disciples concerned about how to feed the 5000 people. Looking at the number they got frightened. However Jesus wanted to know what is in our hand. The boy had only 5 bread and 2 fishes. He gave it to Jesus and Jesus multiplied it.

The verse is good to remind us that whatever we have in our hand, if we give it to Jesus, He will help us to grow it.

The same thing with David when he fought the Goliath. He didn’t have the all necessary equipment for the war instead he only had a sling and a few of stones. That would be enough to fight the giant with God’s help.

Therefore do not wait until you think you have everything you need for the ministry, instead start with whatever that you have in your hand first. As you put your faith and heart into it, He, our faithful Father will increase us and enlarge our capacity to do His work for His Kingdom.

Keep praying for clear direction and for open doors.

Don’t forget to keep praying for His direction and for Him to help up open doors for some difficult steps. Sometimes we lost track with so many obstacles or limited resources. We also need to keep our faith in Him who makes it possible for us to keep going and to supply us with His strength continually. Without His help and direction we can be lost and grow weary in the middle of the journey.

Result is not the goal of your project with God.

Just because He asks you to do something, not necessarily He guarantees the success outcome. Many times I saw people or pastors who started with the tasks that God entrusted them. They tried their best to do God’s will however I can see some of them are really successful but some of them are not.

It is not necessarily their mistakes but perhaps just simply God wants us to move on to the next project. What I learn from this is God is more interested in our character development rather than completing the task itself.

So why am I saying this to you? I just want to encourage you that after you have done so much in your ministry and try to keep going but still failed, it is not because of your incapability. As long as you remains faithful on the given task and when you hear God said is enough, you can stop and move on to the next project that He has got for you.

Thank you for reading my sharing and I hope you are blessed.

  1. I’ve told those who are close around me and have known me for a long time that I don’t have any talents at all, it’s just a matter of fact and they all agree but that’s not what’s important.
What I have is passion and perseverance to do the extra few miles in everything I do.
For those who know me well will agree with what Merry wrote: “our faithful Father will increase and enlarge our capacity to do His work for His Kingdom”.
I have also read again and again the last chapter as a reminder to myself: “Result is not the goal of your project with God”.
