Trust His Protection Upon Your Life - Part 1: Trust Him in the midst of storm

It is always easy for us to say that we trust God when things are going well in our lives. But the word trust really become meaningful and I would say powerful when we boldly say “I Trust You” to Jesus during our utmost difficult time.

Trust is not an easy thing. It only becomes easy when things are under control. However many times God will allow storms after storms in our lives for some period of times before it gets better. When these things happen, maintaining our trust in Him will require a lot of determination from us to patiently waiting for something good to happen.

If you are reading this blog and are going through some storms in life, I hope my blog will give you some enlightenment and some hopes that our God is a good Father. Our Jesus is our healer, He is a God of hope and He is our protector. We should trust in Him alone.

Why I choose this topic? Because in the past years God has brought me into a journey with Him where He wanted me to know Him more than I have ever before. Only through challenges and trials I can see His protection, His love, and His faithfulness in my life. I didn’t say I enjoy them, but I must admit that through this, God has given me an important lifetime lesson, which is to trust Him alone. Many times I can only see all the bigger picture toward the end of the tunnel but learning to trust Him is the key to maintain our peace to walk until the end of the tunnel.

In fact, as I am writing this very topic, I am still believing for breakthrough for me and for my families. I do not want to wait until it is all over before I start writing this blog, instead I want to bring you together with my journey.

I have divided this topic into 3 different weeks which includes my journey and testimony and I hope you can enjoy them for the next few weeks.

This week I want to share to you some tips or steps of what you need to build your trust in God based on my personal experience.

Maintain your peace tirelessly and try not to overcrowd your mind with fear

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid – John 14:27 (NIV)

We all know that Jesus has left us the peace before He left us here. Where is the peace? It is always be with us and it never departs from us. However when the challenges come, our fear has invaded our heart and mind. The fear of not knowing what is going to happen in the future and not knowing what to do takes over our mind and heart. Therefore we felt that there was no peace left in us.

I am naturally a worrier. I tend to think more negatives than positives in almost everything. But in the recent years, I have learned (and am still learning) to proactively subdue my negatives thought by worship and declaring the promise of God over my life. Even after doing this over and over, many times I still couldn’t escape bad thoughts that come across my mind. What I normally do is I try to ignore it and pretend I didn’t think or hear about anything.

When things has become overwhelming, my only approach was only to say to God, my life is in your hand, Lord. I know that you love me and you care for me. I don’t know how it can be resolved but I do not want to use my limited brain to figure it out. I leave it to you, Lord Jesus.

Then slowly I will feel His peace and I start to be able to think normally.

Embrace any small things that God has blessed you during your storms

Many times when we are experience hardship, our focus is just on the end result. We are so focus to get away from our problems that we are unable see some little consolations from God in our journey.

Do not ignore small consolation during your storm. I believe it is from God to show you that He is there for you. He is just trying to cheer you and put a smile on your face. In fact you need to pay attention on this little things to keep you going ahead with Him.

In many of my journey with Him, He never fails to show me comfort in any little things. I love my sweet and I love cakes so much. There was a period of my life when I was so stress that I couldn’t even think to take a treat for a piece of cake. After few weeks with no sugar hit, I was suddenly craving a particular cake. I thought about it but I couldn’t be bothered to find this cake. Suddenly after dinner a friend of mine who is a cake maker messaged me and asked if I wanted some cake. She had a lot of left over from her order. To my surprise that was the very cake that had been in my mind. And I felt so happy, not because of the cake but because God knows what was in my mind and He wanted to cheer me up with my favourite cake. I have a God who really cares for me.

Your past experience belong to the past

Just because you experienced hardship in the past with a bad outcome, doesn’t mean when God allows another storms in the similar area, you will expect the same outcome. He works differently on each of every cases. If you think you made a mistake in the past, as long as you don’t repeat the same mistake, I believe He intends to increase you with this next storm He allows. Dare to expect a different outcome and something good from Him through the challenges you are facing.

Lastly simply trust His protection upon your life

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life – John 3:16 (NIV)

Do you believe that God loves you passionately? Do you believe that He sent His son to die for you? If you choose to believe the above, then you should just simply trust that He will protect you. Let’s make it simple and refuse to think about anything else. Cast down all your worries to Him and no need to think further.

Next week I will continue my sharing on this topic with my journey with Him.

I hope you enjoy this week’s blog and see you again next week.

  1. One verse in the song ‘Build My Life’: “I will build my life upon Your Love, it is a firm foundation”, reminds me of God’s message through Merry’s prayer for me in Oct’13 that He loves me. What Merry wrote from beginning to the end brought back all the memories of my journey, how God’s love is the firm foundation that carried me through every storm..🙌🙌🙏✝️🙏
