Trust His Protection Upon Your Life - Part 2: My Recent Story
The second part of this title, I will share my recent
experience with God where His protection was upon me.
Since early 2020, I have been having some physical
discomfort in some areas of my body. It started with my stomach pain (GERD)
after my brother’s pass which lasted for almost 6 months, then I got my eye
problem since last year which I am still seeking for better treatment. In June
2020, my right eye got flare up really bad which I lost 50% of my vision so I
went to my Ophthalmologist for treatment.
Ophthalmologist ordered for a thorough blood check up to see
if there is a condition that may trigger the eye problem. The result was organised
to be sent directly to her and copied to my GP. On that week when the result
was supposed to be out, my GP called me and asked me to come over. I was not
sure if she wanted to see me to see how I went with the stomach treatment (I
went to my GP for my GERD problem in May 2020) or for something else. Then I
remembered this must be something to do with the blood result. I was a bit
anxious of what happened with my blood result. But I made the appointment to
see my GP after my appointment with my ophthalmologist because I wanted to hear
what my ophthalmologist said first about the result. Cut long story short,
ophthalmologist is happy with the blood result and there was no abnormality in
my blood that can cause any problem in my eye and only suspected with allergy.
However my ophthalmologist did mention there were some areas
that I need to discuss with my GP from the blood result because that was
outside her area. So I met my GP the next day. When I saw my GP, she was
panicking with my blood result and told me that I was anaemic. I realised that
I have been very tired and lost energy lately but didn’t suspect anything. GP
asked me to do ultrasound of my abdomen and internal checking right away so she
could see what’s happening. I did it on that day and result came out on the
next day. When I met my GP again, I was told that I got at least 7 fibroids in
my uterus and a large cyst in the ovary. GP then sent me to gynaecologist for
further examination.
At the specialist clinic, after looking at my scan, doctor
suggested me to have hysterectomy due to the complication of my case. He did
mention 3 options but only hysterectomy seemed a good thing to do for me. So we
decided to have it done as soon as possible.
There are few underlines that I want to share with you from
this journey:
1. The blood test should be for my ophthalmologist interest
only but that the result also went to my GP. And for some reason my blood count
also detected in the result.
2. I am thankful for my GP that even though she
didn’t order for the blood test for me (she only got the copy because of the
request from my ophthalmologist), when the blood result came, she read the
result thoroughly and proactively called me in to discuss about it. I felt this
is God’s hand and protection upon me.
3. My blood count was not that bad. I see many
people has far below than the normal count. Mine was only slightly below than
normal, but my GP was so worried about this and wanted me to do the scan
urgently. I took this overreaction of my GP as the sign from God’s protection
upon my life. Perhaps other GP would be just suggested me with taking iron
pills to recover from anaemic.
4. When I need to make an appointment with my
gynaecologist, I got the appointment within days. Normally for specialist
appointment will take few weeks to few months. But when I called on the Wednesday,
I got the appointment for the following Monday.
I felt grateful that God has helped me to find out problems
in me. I didn’t even feel any pain or something stuck in my abdomen. My cyst
was quite large and was in right ovary. Some people might feel discomfort in
their stomach if they have this large cyst but I couldn’t feel anything.
Through this I am learning that God loves me so much and I
can feel His protection upon me. Though it was not a pleasant thing to do a
surgery to remove my uterus at my age now, but somehow I can feel comforted
knowing He is able to protect me with His mighty hand.
I had the surgery on 02 November 2020 and praise God all
went smooth and easy. I will share some testimonies in my next blog regarding
the surgery itself and how my God has been with me during the surgery and my
stay in the hospital.
Therefore don’t be discouraged if you experience hardship in
any areas of your life. When God is for you, He will never leave you alone.
Stay faithful to Him and patiently wait for His rescue to you.
The word of God from John 14 has been spoken to me many
times in the past few weeks before my surgery.
Do not let your heart
be troubled - John 14:1 (NIV)
It is a very simple word that Jesus instructed us to do
because He knows how easily fearful we can be and how fragile we are in facing
challenges in our lives. He wants us to really meditate on this simple word and
apply it in our everyday life.
Thank you for reading my blog and see you in my next blog.

Around 33 years ago I heard my eldest brother sang one Indonesian Christian song with his guitar: ‘Tuhanlah Penjagaku’ (God is my Protector) taken from Psalm 121. Since I moved to Australia in 1989, I’ve never heard this song sung anywhere else, but strangely enough, it just stayed with me and often reminds me of His Faithfulness. Even when I read the whole journey in Merry’s testimony, it reminds me of the song, from the whole chapter of Psalm 121.
