When God Holds The Very Thing You Want
We have a lot of things that we want to get and achieve in
life. Either big or small, long or short term goal, all of them are important
to us. As Christians we normally request to God for something that we really want to get. If we think our request is good and reasonable, we are hopeful that most likely God will support us. Unfortunately that is not always the case.
We do not know the future, only God knows what will happen.
Something that we think is good now, is not necessarily better than God can
offer you later. Our part is just to request whatever we really desire, but we
leave it to God if we can get that or not. Sometimes we can force to make it happen and God will let us have it, but is not necessarily His will
in our lives. It is best to really surrender to Him and let His will be done in
us. When we let His will be done in our lives, though it may take longer time
to see, you will eventually receive a better deal from Him.
I would like to share the testimony of my husband, Rical few
years ago. Rical is a computer programmer. He used to do a contractor work
because he didn’t like to stay in one company permanently. He liked to learn
more skills and knowledge from different kind of fields and industries. In 2012
he got a contractor job in one of the NSW government department. He has been
working there for few years before he decided to move on to another fields. He
prayed to God to lead him for another job and then he started to look for a new
one. At that time we had already got our 2 children, therefore he had to find a
long term contractor job with the possible of extension because at that time he
was the only one who work in the family.
After several interviews he finally got a new contractor job
in finance industry. He was very excited because he never worked in finance before
and thought this could be a good chance for him to learn new things. It said
that the company offers a long term contract with possible of extension which
sounded perfect for what he needed.
However, just before he started this new job, suddenly the
agent cancelled his contract for no apparent reason. He was disappointed by this
rejection. He started to have some bad thoughts, like was he not good
enough for the job? Why God didn’t let him to get this job? And etc. But he
decided not to entertain his thoughts but kept declaring God’s goodness over
his life. Luckily he has not filed his resignation yet with the current place
he was working with so he was still able to work in the same place.
Several months later, there was somebody just being
recruited into Rical’s team. Soon he found out that his new colleague had
worked in the finance company where he supposed to start his new job. He
told Rical that he got his contract ended after only working there for 2 months
in that company because there was no project. Rical was very surprise for the
coincidence and so thankful that God has protected our family financially. God was
not obliged to explain to him about what happened behind the scene, but
He wanted to let Rical know the very reason why he got rejected.
Less than year after that, Rical’s manager called him
and advised that the company would like to recruit him to be a permanent
employee. We never thought that he could get a permanent job in NSW
government department. It is very difficult to get a government job but he was
offered a permanency in this place. This job offers many incentives and a lot
of staff benefits and we are thankful to God who initiated all of this for us.
Therefore I would like to encourage if you ever got rejected or
turned down for something that you really want to get, trust God that the story has not ended there. As long as you include God in the
situation from the beginning, believe that He has a good plan in your life. He
might have something better for you or perhaps it is not a good time for you to
have it now. Whatever His reason is, as long as you are faithful in Him, after
everything has passed you will be able to see His very heart and plan over your
life. He might reveal to you the very reason why He did what He did to you. So
be in cheerful heart and know that He loves you passionately.
Let me close with this verse:
Trust in the Lord with
all your heart and lean not on your own understanding – Proverbs 3:5
