God's Power Is Manifested Through You

Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. - 2 Timothy 2:21 (NIV)

Our God is a good Father. He loves to see us blessed and live in victorious life. However many people have to face some challenges and struggles in life. When He sees His people cries and in sorrows He wants to demonstrate His power and miracle to free them from all these troubles. But He needs us to be His co-worker to carry out His power to free people from their bondage.

Are we willing to be His vessel? Or are we too scared and lack of faith when He wants to use us? He will speak in His gentle voice to ask us to do His will, but it is up to us if we are willing to go hand in hand with Him or if we want to reject His invitation. To accept His invitation requires a lot of courage. But if we know that it is He who speak to us, then He will be with us and you will see His power be demonstrated through you.

I want to share my 2 experiences with God when I accepted His invitation to pray for the sick and I was amazed of the results that He has shown me. These stories have been inspiring me in my journey with God every time I pray for sick people.

Back in 2008, there was a church program where we were trained to be prayer warriors for Healing ministries. I signed up myself because I wanted to learn about this ministry. At the end of this workshop, my church held a healing crusade inviting people from outside church where we should pray for them if they came up requesting for healing prayer.

Feeling excited but nervous, I was up for it and was ready for the ‘spiritual war’. On that night I was assigned to pray for few people. The scary part was we were asked by our pastor to check with the person whom we prayed for if they have felt better right after we finished praying for them. I was a bit scared to ask the question because I was not sure if the result can be seen right away after our prayer. But I did it anyway and as I anticipated most people I prayed for didn’t have any immediate result.

Until there was a little girl came to me and asked me to pray for her. I asked her what the problem was. She told me that she couldn’t see far away. Straight in my mind I was thinking, why is this girl coming to me with this case? She could have just gotten a glasses and all is sorted out. But God can see my mind. He straight away said to me, “If I want to heal her, who are you? Just do your part.”

I quickly apologized to Him in my heart and started to pray for her. I just closed my eyes and focused on praying for her healing. Then the most interesting part after prayer I had to ask her if there was improvement in her sight. I pointed something really far away and asked if she could see and read the word. She said yes she suddenly could see them clearly. And she could read all of the wording on the board. I was the one who got disbelief. I thought did she make it up? Or perhaps she could read that before already? I then asked her if she could see that before I prayed for her. She was so excited and said “No I couldn’t see those at all before and now I can see!” and I could see her face was really happy and she wanted to testify right away at the front.

This was the only ‘successful’ case for me on that night and this one was after I questioned her case in my own mind. God has intervened my thoughts and I was so glad that He has asked me to proceed to pray for her.

Another story was when I had my daughter already. She was only about 2 years old and I put her in the day care near my home. In the morning when I dropped Faith (my daughter), I saw few kids in the day care. Then the lady carer had a chat with me about one of the little girl that was there. She said that poor this little girl, since she was born, she got a condition that she was allergic to almost any kind of food. She couldn’t even drink her formula or milk since she was born due to her allergy condition. Her case was one of the rare case and doctors had to monitor her progress on regular basis. After hearing the story I went home and couldn’t take my mind away from her. Then there was a voice inside me and told me to pray for her. I was a bit reluctant because I was not sure if I was even allowed to do it. I didn’t want to get myself in trouble with the government and rule.

But I just obeyed Him, I then asked the carer over the phone a permission if I could pray for the little girl in the afternoon when I picked up Faith. Surprisingly she said ok and the mother of the little girl would not come until late afternoon to pick her up. So I came in the afternoon, I put her on my lap and I prayed for her. Then another day I prayed again for her. I didn’t follow up again with the carer after I prayer for this little girl. Until almost a year later, my carer told me that the little girl’s mother told her there was one night she was not nearby her daughter and her daughter took some food that she was not supposed to eat and ate it. When the mother found out that she ate the food, she was panicking about the reaction would be and was ready to go to the hospital that night. But the little girl didn’t show any reaction at all! The mother was very confused. She then still saw the doctor and told him about the incident. The doctor found it weird about what just happened and asked the girl to be tested all over again. To her surprise the little girl suddenly could eat most of the food. The mother was a bit hesitant to give her all of the food but she slowly started to introduce these food that she used to be allergic to and she was fine with it.

When I heard about the story I was so surprised and so thankful to God that He was so great. The carer did tell the mother that one of the mother in her carer prayed for her daughter but didn’t tell her it was me. But anyway, I didn’t plan to tell the mother anything. It was all God who initiated this. I praised Him for His heart and His kindness toward this little girl and felt grateful that He wanted to use me as His vessel to bless others.

Therefore I would like to encourage you to be ready to become his vessel. He must have been preparing you for His good work. When he thinks you are ready please do not turn Him down, instead accept His invitation to be His co-worker, so through you He can manifest His power and miracle to others.
