Has God Spoken To Us About 2022
At the end of 2021 my pastor spoke several times about the importance of
reaching out to people. She said we as Christians must always remember that our
mission in life is to win souls. As Matthew 28:18-20 says:
Then
Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in
heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to
obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to
the very end of the age.”
My pastor asked me as we enter 2022, to start thinking about how I can
bring people around us, including family and friends, to God. I know that this
is what we are called to do as Christians. However when I am asked to seriously
do this, I became fearful. I always think that I do not have what it takes to bring
people to God. I do not know how to approach them and speak graciously to them.
I also feel that it is inappropriate for me to disciple people because my
character is far from perfect. People still can see my imperfection and I often
disqualify myself to lead them to Christ.
So to compensate for this commandment, I tried to do other good things
for God such as do more worship and prayer at home, be kind to others, give
donation to people in need, and other stuffs. I feel more confident to offer my
time and finance to help people rather than having to evangelize them and bring
them to Christ.
Until I visited a church a few weeks ago and the pastor in that church was
preaching the same thing as what my pastor has been saying to me. He said that
our job is to pray and evangelize the people God has entrusted to our lives. We
are put in their lives for a reason, namely so that we can be a prayer for them
and can win them to God.
This message from the pastor really hit my spirit and it stays in my
heart. I started to feel that it is the deepest longing of our father in heaven
so that His children can be brave enough to get out of their comfort zone and
try to reach out to the lost. It's not easy for me, and I believe it's not easy
for everyone either. I always try to find reasons to refuse this call. But I
feel like this year is the year for me to start thinking seriously about ways
and strategies to win people over for God.
In my previous blog, I talked about the joy
of giving. I mentioned about one family that I cooked for when she needed food
for her family. After I gave food to this family last time, I continued to send
food every week for them. I have a connection with an organization that feeds
the poor every week. They do food hampers weekly and each week I collect four
bags from this organisation and deliver them to this family.
On Christmas just passed I planned to give
them other household needs such as toilet tissue, oil, soap, shampoo, and
other household items to this family again. Then I came up with an idea to write a message
about God on a Christmas card for them. I felt a little uneasy to do it because it was my first time to write on the card about God’s love and goodness to a stranger. But this is something I will do often in the future so I need to start practising from now.
I hope that starting 2022 God will give me more
opportunities to meet people and for me to share the gospel with them. But most
of all I hope that my spirit will not slacken to be a bearer of good news to people,
instead I become more courageous to evangelize to others. Surely I need a lot
of grace from God for this calling but I know God will always be with me.
How about you? What has God convicted you to do in this 2022? Perhaps you want to take time and listen to Him what He has for you this year.
Thank you for reading my blog and I believe you will experience a great year with God in 2022.
I also received the same conviction on 16 Dec'21 when I prayed for someone on her birthday.
